Is there anything stopping me from buying 1000 shares of a company before the ex-dividend date, and then dumping them for par/profit a day later and collecting all my dividends? Why don't people do this for free money? From what I've been reading, so long as I bought the shares before the ex-date, i'll collect dividends even if I've sold those shares.

Tl;Dr getting a big inheritance soon and I want /biz/'s wisdom

Long version: Grandfather was in banking, left me an accessible account that releases a portion of my inheritance monthly (about 40k) with his wish (which I've respected) being that it not be accessed outside of an emergency until the full amount is transferred. It'll be finished transferring in about 3 more years and I can access about 9 million.

But most of it is already there. Are there investments worth going into immediately that I'd majorly miss out on in the next few years if I wait?

Also I'm getting married soon. Stupid question, I fucking know, but should we have a prenuptial agreement? Bear in mind, we will be having kids and staying together long term. Also she's always been the wealthier one of us, disregarding this inheritance issue, and stayed with me even when she didn't know about the money. I think she'd be understanding if I asked, but should I even bother?

How do we make come out ahead? Clearly Ethereum 2 with the scaling update is going to be huge. What's the best way to onboard our money? Holding plain Ethereum might work but something like a miner revolt could force a genesis block and we would be shit out of luck. Participating in the test net early might be smart to mitigate some risk. A genesis block or hard fork would not effect the shards with Ethereum in staking contracts. Another option is Zcash however they are about a year out from z addresses being spend within Ethereum smart contract architecture and that is the only use case that will make it have value imho.

What's the best move here? Remember don't bother shilling ur shit. Focus on Ethereum or Zcash or ur just a shill. Objective is to protect your wealth not speculate
