That house is actually a cheap one. This isnt a new phenomenon. It started with covid and has only increased. Missoula area is the new jackson hole. Most of these new construction houses are already sold before they're finished. Compare any of these Montana houses to Long Island and you will see why they're hot. If you want to leave NY there's 3 choices FL, MT, or KY. Only difference is the ones that move to MT dont move back because they love it.

I honestly dont doubt this anon, because I am literally in the same boat. Mom died with two 1/2 paid off mortgages, used life insurance to pay the rest. Now I own two homes at 50% under market. Equity is truly an amazing gift.
