Property taxes are THE reason why Americans cannot be self sufficient from the dollar. If you own a house with 1 acre of land then that household could be self sufficient in most respects. However, with property tax that household NEEDS to find a way to obtain DOLLARS. If they do not then the government can seize the property and even arrest the owner. The household cannot simply get water, food, shelter and clothing from their land. They also need to obtain dollars to pay for the property tax denominated in dollars. The family could mine Bitcoin and use it to obtain goods and services, but they cannot use it to pay property taxes. What that means is the family is required to obtain dollars in some way. Certain (((people))) claim that property taxes ensures that land can become productive by the owner giving money to the government to redistribute or forcing the owner to make the land generate revenue.
