Fellow Japananon here, make a Coinbase account. They came to Japan this year and I just made and account and funded mine in like 20 mins.
Use your phone and a new email address to register and make sure to download the app from the Japan google store or appstore. That'll make sure you don't get it mixed up with a US account if you have one.

nope. The naturalization process is pretty straightforward but it does take a long time. State guys come out and interview you and check things out, you have to "contribute to Japanese society" in a positive way and show proof. And you need someone to vouch for you. And you need to learn Japanese well enough to understand everything. Then finally, you have to renounce your previous citizenship because Japan doesn't allow dual-nationals (people born dual can get away with it but not if you voluntarily naturalize).

I don't live in a shithole country and can afford to live on a lower take-home and put the rest of my salary into stocks/crypto to retire.
