They are trying to get people who believe in bitcoin to buy all of it in the series of pump and dumps that have occured in the past 5 months. After each dump, whales are buying more Alts that have real world utility. This is why ALT dominance is going up.

The end of BTC is going to be very ugly. Certain groups like MT GOX, are going to still have a LOT of BTC left when ETH is about to flip. Whenever it is apparent that it will be happening, these large groups are going to DUMP BTC like it never has dumped before. They are slowly coverting at the tops now, but they will still have a bit left at the begining of the flippening. You BTC holders will be panic selling from your work place bathroom stall on your mobile at 3k during the flippening.
