It is well known that medium and small cap outperform in the long run. There is constant debate as to why. This last decade of large cap outperforming like crazy is very unique and big reason is the quantitative easing by the fed and low interests rates making them go crazy way more than small business.

Honestly I'd suggest equally weighting small/mid/large cap but his priority is to to safety "invest in everything" and sit back and relax.

Personally I equally weight small/mid/large because of their trend to outperform large cap in the long run
