I work as an engineer in manufacturing in Tennessee. The work we do involves a little bit of physical work (lifting parts and moving samples), but not enough to warrant adding it as a requirement to the job posting. We’re hiring a couple new engineers and I overheard my boss telling our recruiter not to hire any women for these positions, because he doesn’t think they can complete the physical aspects of the job. Of the dozen or so engineers in the department, we’re all men ages 23-28. How should I respond? Is this something to report to the EEOC?
