I need help, /biz/. I am as new to cryptocurrency as it gets. I know nothing.

>I don't know how to evaluate which way a given coin is going.

>I don't know investing basics, because the school system here doesn't teach that stuff and I grew up poor.

No matter how motivated you are, you need someone to show you the lay of the land before you can begin finding your way. If you can offer any advice or resources or places to start learning about investments and/or crypto, please, share.

What I am NOT looking for is for someone to tell me "invest in this crypto" or something of the sort. Even if you're well intentioned, that doesn't help me in the long run, and it will lead to people arguing. I want to have the info I need to learn how to decide for myself what to invest in. Teach a man to fish, and all that.

That's basically the jist of it. You try to mine with a longer term view of the market than typical day traders. Monero will be worth a good amount in a year or two, that's an example that everyone could see coming easily from $25. I just wish I got in before the god damn Koreans sent it to space. Look at how mining economics and the game theory behind it work out in the various coins over the months/years. Some use novel schemes that may look like anomalies at first but provide much more pronounced impacts on the supply than proof of work block halving could.

I'm all in on the XMR train simply because I actually believe in the technology and it's real world market functionality, which is money laundering and facilitating drug deals. Most of the people on /biz/ are going to be right up there with the Pets.com Marines when the bubble pops and they're left holding these worthless digital beans that don't actually fucking do anything of any appreciable effect that 99% of normies can't somehow facilitate with regular fiat. Monero has the distinct advantage of both acting like real money (as it's the only coin that is fungible) plus it solves a fucking enormous problem drug dealers have as they have no way to move significant amounts of money around conventionally (e.g. through banks) as the IRS and other government agencies can see exactly what they are doing. I mean think of that the price of XMR would have to be if even 0.5% of all of the drug deals in the world used it as a medium of exchange. I mean that's not an unreasonable estimation and yet if you bought a couple grand worth of these now you might have $100,000+ in a decade or so.

The biggest risk I perceive is a competing coin but considering the tech already put into Monero a fork would be more likely, and a fork would just mean you now have both coins so it would function as a massive dividend.
