this is actually very good advice

just to expand on the boomer fund advice, I'd specifically do:
- $100k in the S&P 500 (ticker SPY)
- $100k in the NASDAQ 100 (ticker QQQ)
- $170k in BTC as >>57400785 said
- $30k in ETH as >>57400785 said

Eat beans and rice and live in a cheap apartment with a roommate. Only buy used cars. Invest as much of your salary as you can. Invest in ETFs that track indexes like the S&P 500 or the Nasdaq 100. Use your spare time to study skills and get certifications. Branch-swing from job to job to increase your income.

After you've saved up at least $100k, consider taking 10% of your investment money and buying blue chip crypto like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Once your credit score is good (like 740 or higher) consider buying a house. Be sure you want to live in the city where you buy your house for at least the next five years. You will lose the flexibility to move to different cities for better job opportunities, but you will save a lot of money on rent because you get your mortgage payment money back when you sell the house.

double major in economics and statistics with a minor in compsci

graduate with a 3.7 GPA or better and also get an internship at a large company that people have heard of during the summer between your junior and senior years

follow these instructions and (assuming you went to a decent college) you're pretty much guaranteed a high-paying analyst / data scientist job straight out of college as long as you don't fuck up the interviews

your college will have a career center that hosts workshops for revising your resume and helps you practice for interviews, be sure to take advantage of those programs

start applying to jobs early and often during your senior year

screenshot this comment or copy/paste it, and store it somewhere where you won't lose it, because this is the most valuable advice you're going to get in this thread

>Which cards with are actually worth their annual fee?
none, unless you spend literally six figures on credit cards every year

these are the cards I use, there is no annual fee on all of them:

3% cash back at restaurants: Savor card by Capital One

3% cash back at gas stations: AARP card by Barclays

3% cash back at grocery stores: Blue Cash Everyday card by American Express

5% cash back on my streaming, internet, and cell phone bills: Cash+ card by US Bank

2% cash back on everything else: Fidelity Rewards card by Fidelity Investments

I'm a big believer in cashback cards with no annual fee. It's okay to get an Amex Platinum or a Chase Sapphire Reserve card but you should understand that these credit cards are luxury items like buying an iPhone instead of an Android or buying a new BMW instead of a used Toyota. The main reason you should get an Amex Platinum or a CSR is so you can swipe into the luxury airport lounge and order a free cocktail and sip it while thinking about how you're better than all the normies who can't get into airport lounges.

But when it comes to saving money I guarantee you that if you use Microsoft Excel or pen and paper to figure out what your expected rewards from using the cards I listed versus using an Amex Platinum or a CSR, you'll find that you'll have more money at the end of the day if you use a wallet full of zero annual fee card with specific cash back categories

you're too young but if you were investing in 2018, you'd be used to this
>crypto market went down 90%
>stock market slowly bled 20% over the course of the year
I spent a whole year investing more than 50% of every paycheck, and watched myself get poorer each month

here's what you need to do:
>go to any top 30 school
>double major in Econ/Stats, or Econ/Math, or Econ/CompSci
>get an internship at a company people have heard of between your 3rd and 4th years
>graduate with a GPA at or above 3.6
do these things and you should have no problem finding an entry-level analyst or data scientist job at a major bank

as far as what to do with the $40k, here's my advice:
>keep $5k in a savings account; this is your emergency fund to help you if you lose your job and need to live off savings while you look for a new job
>open an account on Coinbase and invest $5k into bitcoin
>open an account on Fidelity and split the remaining $30k between the three major US stock indexes: SPY, QQQ, and DIA

listen up. If you want to get rich enough to live off of your investments, you need a good job in order to make enough money to invest. Don't listen to the anons on this website who tell you that $1,000 and a crypto trading account are all you need to retire a millionaire; the days of reliable 100xes are gone.

The best way to get a good job is to go to college. The best field you can study in order to find a good job is computer science. Statistics and economics are also good. That's if you don't want to get a postgraduate degree.

If you can't get into a good college with your high school grades, go to community college for 2 years and get straight As while you earn your associate's degree. Then you should be able to get into the best in-state school in your state and you might get a scholarship too. Your credits will transfer and you can graduate with your bachelor's in 2 or 3 years.

While you're getting your bachelor's, go to the career center and talk to the people there and do everything they tell you to do and you should be able to snag an internship and eventually a good job.

assuming you're an americuck:
1) have a bank account
2) open a brokerage account (I like Fidelity personally)
3) look around in the brokerage account for the "transfer money" or "fund account" button
4) enter your checking account number and routing number as they appear on your checkbook
5) wait 3-5 days for the money to move from your bank account to your brokerage account
congrats you're ready to buy stonks

OP the truth is that the central banks have been slowly lowering the average interest rates over time, and that causes the net present value of all assets to appreciate. The rich are the ones who already own the assets, so they get richer. Central banks --> low interest rates --> people who are already rich get richer. That's it. That's the whole conspiracy. Anything you've read about Rothschilds, Jews, Gnomes of Zurich, whatever, it's all bullshit.
