it blows my mind how the same people who firmly believe in technical analysis (beyond basic anchoring that is) can't seem to fathom that it's an odd even to have Put volume with close expiry explode while at the same time the market is in a manic phase and that money could be literally put to use farming ridiculous yields du jour. I'm mind blown because the people who believe in TA largely concede that it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. well the same is true for option volumes, when there is a ridiculous amount of money to make from betting on a trend reversal and enough people start putting faith in it (i.e buying these options) then yeah you're setting up yourself for ka-boom.
