I have a coworker who does this. He browses wallstreetbets and thinks it's great info. He owns like 30 rental units and has passive income, and he gambles away a lot of it because he's addicted to casinos and stuff. He plays with options and gets fucked left and right. He took his wife's 401k from $15k to $45k to $500 in the span of two weeks. He used to have a couple hundred bitcoin and spent it all on drugs in high school and college. He's incapable of holding an asset and letting it grow, he just wants to sell it ASAP when he buys it. I was telling him about link this summer when it was $4, and he was rightfully skeptical. I've made more in unrealized gains this year on my 2k king of linklet stack than he's made with all the shit he does to feel like a day trader. If he didn't have that passive income coming in I legitimately think he'd have financial troubles, because he's fucking addicted to it.
