Have you tried buying and transferring bitcoin or eth? The fees and settlement times are ATROCIOUS. And that's not even getting into the energy costs (BTC is a huge electricity hog). It's utterly unsustainable. The same is not true for XRP, which transfers incredibly fast with a negligible fee that GETS BURNED, meaning XRP is DEFLATIONARY and grows in value over time and use.
