Because unlike with stocks, it's an entirely new market and accessible to everyone. And, much stronger than on an actual stock market, the price we pay for cryptos now is in no way tied to the value of the cryptocurrency technology. The price is determined by what people have to spend/invest.
You could divide any cryptoprice by 10 and that's an equally valid estimation of what the tech is worth. It's under the hood determined by what markets it will replace, but nobody knows. At the moment, it appears that the use of crypto is not person to person or person to buyable goods, but in person to institution and fundrasing. ICOs are not a bug but the main feature.
