how do meme triangles work?

Do you just draw them around the classic "equillibrium pattern" and then if it breaks up then you can be sure that another meme triangle will form?

It seems like the popular youtuber "theChartGuys" uses them but he doesnt say meme triangle and i didn't understand how he could tell it was going to go up?
