Well admittedly the principle reason for doing this is to take a chance at escaping wagecuckery but as I said, it is an underserved niche genre i.e. high demand, low supply, few competitors.

I already have 4 years of software development experience. Surely taking 2-3 years off to work on a game isn't such a catastrophic decision?
