It got the project some publicity and cost nothing. Seems like a win-win from Skycoin's POV. Publicity when McAfee joined, and more publicity when he rage-quit. When a project is as strong as Skycoin, all publicity is good publicity, because when people investigate the project properly they always end up finding out how advanced and comprehensive it is, and how much development is going on.
