200$ ?
I'd recommend a book.
ADA is a good core investment, a long term hold that pays dividends. If you are just speculating/flipping, best to look elsewhere.

Being able to make a lot of money doesn't mean being good with money.
I am the son of a carpenter and all of my life I have watched my father live paycheck to paycheck and always bitch about being broke. He was an alcoholic, but not to the extent that he shouldn't have had a penny to his name - he just never thought to put a little away each time he got paid just for the sake of having some savings. His attitude was that he could always make more money, even as a lifetime of manual labour took its toll on his body before 50. And that's the rub - you can only make so much money in your lifetime because we all get too old to work eventually.

Thankfully I happened upon pic related years ago and avoided the consumer lifestyle. It's not that the whole book is good, but the beginning of the story is what stuck with me, where the protagonist realises that the lower class and the middle class earn different wages but they both complain about being broke.

The secret to getting rich is to spend less than you earn.
The secret to losing weight is to eat less than you have been.

Are their any other mysteries of the universe I can impart onto you?

Anyone have any other business books as good as this? I read it after /biz/ said to and thought it was great.

The Richest Man in Babylon is one of few books I ever read, and the only book I ever read about finance.

As a non-reader I didn't know what to expect, but decided to give it a go and absolutely loved it!
I can recommend this to any of you who know nothing about finance, and to anyone that loves entrepreneur stories.

I want to ask people that loved this book as much as I did to recommend me some similar books, because I don't know any myself. I'd really love to read more stuff like this.

Also, what are some /biz/ related movies you like?
One that I can recommend is 'There Will Be Blood' (2007). It's about a man trying to make it in the early 20th century oil boom. It's a great movie.

Thanks in advance

This book is literally a meme. Which one of you put it on the recommended /biz/ reading list?

Here, I'll save you the time of reading it
- Make wise investments
- Save money gradually and start early
- Take opportunities. Rely on intuition and be confident

Even more aggravating the author took the liberty of writing a fictional story about a wealthy man who lived in Babylon and decided to use Elizabethan style English. People in Babylon did not use fucking "Thou" and "Sir." If you're going to write a completely fictional story at least make the dialogue modern.

I'm not american so please excuse my english.

I'm a photographer, and a very good one I believe. I spent the last 4 years polishing my craft only to discover that I just forgot to pay attention on how to make money.

Yeah, I know I should find a niche, find clients and just shoot. But that's not what I want to do for the rest of my life.

So initially my plan is to associate with another fellow (very talented photographer) and focus on the advertising niche (where the money really is, but also the competition).

Second, start a blog to give back. I found that most of the blogs about photography here in my country (and pretty much all over the world) are just "5 things you should never say to a client", "3 things that will make your photos a lot better", and that's just BULLSHIT. I fucking hate that shit.

My plan is to start a non-bullshit blog that really teaches about every aspect of the craft in every step of the path (I was an assistant for many years).

So, these are 2 of the pillars. And I believe they complement each other. My portfolio will give some credit to the blog, specially in the beginning, and the blog will bring some attention to my portifolio giving me some more to put on the table when prospecting in some agencies.

Eventually, I plan to have a good base of followers and a nice mail list.

So my plan is to sell to them.

Initially workshops, one-on-ones, maybe some video courses. But in the long run I plan to review some equipments and start to import and sell with some e-commerce structure.

So, this configures the third part of the pillar.

Active work as a photographer, a base of readers/clients for the blog and eventually a store. They all complement nicely each other.

I don't plan to get rich doing this (but you never know), I just want to have some money left so I can invest the shit / seek bigger opportunities.

So, what's wrong with my plan?
I'm seeking some real advice.

ps: in the picture a book that really changed my life.
