I used to like work (webdev), I was friends with a fair number of people and we'd hang out after work together. Management and COVID ruined everything, though. Now none of my friends are still with the company, so I just clock in and never talk to anyone.
For what it's worth, I genuinely do enjoy helping people, and it bothers me when other people don't. There's some balance obviously in that you don't want to be taken advantage of, but it's more fulfilling than just working by yourself on shit that won't matter anyways.

Looking at RE just makes me depressed. It is absolutely mind-boggling how many shitty homes there are, and not just in my city. I've looked at homes in just about every major city in the US through Zillow and not even 10% are even attractive. That's not even looking at the price, but just whether or not the house is presentable. And people willingly buy these homes because they've been resigned to a life of mediocre middle class existence and will never have a lot of money for a decent house.
