His play, if profitable to him, makes no logistical sense. His future of hostile takeovers is no longer anywhere near as feasible if he loses retail.

That being said, all documentation of his stock sale marks him as an INSIDER. His date of sale marked a vesting period of 5 months. His meetings and decisions organized with BoBBY qualify him as an insider. He instated 3 board members and a CEO. If he went and sold, knowing BBBY is going bankrupt, that is textbook insider trading. No other rats jumped the ship. I think bankruptcy is unlikely. If he held deep OTM calls for BBBY and profited off of the squeeze he incites, that would be INSIDER TRADING and a serious conflict of interest.

My money is on him swing trading for the benefit of BBBY, and striking a deal for a leveraged buyout of BABY, saving Bed bath from bankruptcy temporarily, and spinning off BABY into a whole different entity with a new ticker and shares issued from Bed Bath. This creates a way for BoBBY to dilute stock from it’s allotted amount without increasing the float of their own company. Now RC has the capital available for the purchase, no open conflicts of interest, and an explanation of why his board members are still there, sitting on their investments they made in BoBBY with their own money, two of which being MERGERS and ACQUISITIONS SPECIALISTS.
