Could someone explain this to me?

When I first got BCH when the fork occured i expected the logical thing to happen was for both currencies to quickly go to a 1:1 ratio.

Why was I wrong in thinking this? I have no horse in the race but it doesnt seem logical for there to not be a an immediate 1:1 ratio
