Lmao let's be real: if you want any sort of chance at social mobility and moving into the professional class in the US, you need a college degree. The """meritocracy""" we have isn't, you need a degree to do anything of consequence with your life.
I graduated with no debt and even I can see that this is true. We are creating a generation of permarenter debt slaves and all the boomers have are these dumbass "pay your bills" takes, which ignores the lack of viable alternatives for young people. I currently work in tech and worked in construction during college with tradespeople, neither learning to code or the trades was going to save the middle class. Young people are supremely fucked, many don't even realize it, and all politicians can offer is insipid "pay it back" rhetoric.
