I'm looking to purchase an expensive item on Amazon and it says I can get their credit card and have no interest for 12 months. I could easily pay it off long before that. Then just close the card? Does closing a credit card impact my credit negatively?

I can afford to buy the item outright, but I figure if I can spread the payments out thats better.

For the past few years at payday I've been getting cash back on debit purchases b/c I thought it'd be bitchin to have cash on hand.

Now I have ~$12k on hand and don't know what to do with it. Kinda wish it was at least in the bank earning 1% interest.

Best case I buy a car with it and get an odd look. Maybe I'll wear a pimp suit.

Thinking of taking the plunge and actually learning programming and getting a real job, but I hate the idea of wasting away at a desk.

I'd love to do carpentry, but I also don't want to start at the bottom again.

What would /biz/ say is better? Day trading or being a stockbroker?

This thread is like a request thread: there's an actual board for requests to contain requests. You're requesting easy answers, and still so after having gotten absolutely nothing.

I didn't have anyone help me to learn the markets, and I'm glad for some parts. All of my thoughts on the markets are my own thoughts, not something instilled into me from someone else. The thing I would've like to have had would be to actually see some of the behind-the-scenes working of how the markets work. (like the difference between investment banking and hedge fund trading)

There are multiple strategies you can utilize that target different things. Buy and hold targets obviously the long run with wealth construction, while hedging targets either tax maneuvering or control exposure/mitigate risk or capital preservation. You're not going to know if the stocks that some anon might suggest are actually going to be good. You certainly won't know if they are already good, neither. You would literally be gambling, and to build on that, why not just simply throw some darts?

Blindly pick some stocks on a blindly-picked strategy. Just because someone told you what number you should throw the dart at doesn't mean you'll actually hit the number. You have no idea how to hold the dart, how it flies depending on your throwing technique, or even how to play the game. Just close your eyes and throw.

Studies show your return will be 5% higher if you let a chimpanzee do the throwing for you. Or you can do the tried and true method of chalking the ticker symbols on the floor, beheading a chicken, then letting it run around and fall on a ticker symbol. Voila.

So I graduated with no debt with a BS in exercise science, and I was planning to go to grad school for the doctor of physical therapy program.

The pay for that job is ~70k and the student loan is roughly ~85k, not counting the cost of living for three years.

I really wanted to do this job when I was younger, but now I'm having second thoughts. The idea of paying almost 150k for a job that pays 70k just doesn't seem right to me

Should I follow through with this plan or look into getting another degree that gives me more mobility with less debt?

I was thinking about something in engineering or programming, but I have no idea

I'm currently 28 years old with about 50k in savings. I've been obsessing over this for weeks now and I'm starting to lose sleep.

He wants me to go to dental school but I'm afraid I won't get it. Should I make him happy and try? He will pay for the requirements and let me live at home.
