I'm just bored Bobo. Slow day. According to my backtests, the strategy works in pretty much any market cycle see pic related back to 2010 for example. Note there are a few other things to pay attention to also an optimal stop loss should be calculated and adhered to so to avoid catastrophic loss like in 2008. I won't give it all away but with a little work a very solid strategy can be worked out from what I've written

>VIX 80
If you haven't stopped out long before this you're doing it wrong
>all the indicators are the same
This is not true. I realize how seductive this line of reasoning is but I suggest you actually do the work. VIX can remain elevated or depressed for extended times severely curtailing its utility for swing trading while the ratios are a lot more constant. There's more to it than just ratios of cash VIX but that's a big one. Do a backtest and see

>how to trade VIX6M/VIX
You can trade VIX futures or VIX options. There are some ETFs like VXX and VIXM that give you exposure to the front months and the mid-term VIX but I wouldn't suggest trading the VIX. Use it as an indicator for when to enter and exit equity indexes like SPY or UPRO. If you want to get fancy the indicator can work for VIX derivative entries but it's a lot trickier and the trade must be very short term so I won't go into it
