try intermittent fasts, there is good (but not perfect) science behind them, the running theory is that the 10-tiny-meals-a-day meme means you live in a constant state of elevated insulin and like anything that your body is 24/7 exposed to, it starts to become desensitized to it. Then you get metabolic syndrome, get fat and your kidneys fail.

I personally do a daily 18/6 fast and start eating around 4-5PM and continue til bedtime. It's hard for me to overeat in such a small time frame, my stomach won't let me. And I find the pleasure of getting to daily eat what I want, as much as I want, once a day until full satiety is vastly more sustainable than starting to eat a meal then stopping halfway through, three+ times a day, which is the modern wisdom. To me, that's like the culinary equivalent of starting to get a blowjob then having your mom call partway through and having to stop. Over and over and over, day after day, getting teased relentlessly and never getting to come.

Conversely, when I wake up I've already necessarily been fasting 8 hours and find it fairly trivial to just keep holding the fast for another 8.
