Somewhat, because they're the primary demographic. They pick up trends faster because they're the first ones to get advertised to. Algorithms will flood their feeds with ads, and there's also a large population of really stupid people who don't realize that their favorite instagram/tik tok/FB star is straight up marketing when they make a new post showing off their hip new purchase.

So I guess it's less that they're good at "identifying" the trends and more that they're good at being the first ones to fall prey to it. Also they're in a race with one another to be the first one on the trend before it goes out of style. Advertising and marketing isn't a meme - there's a reason corporations spend so much on it. People like us most likely use adblock and don't follow ((((influencers)))) so by the time we see it, it's already been marketed heavily.
