Finding a job as a programmer is fucking savage, it's cut throat, you literally have to do ANYTHING to land that first job. Once you build experience (learn on the job), it's smooth sailing from there, seriously. Don't give up, apply, apply, apply and apply some more. Fucking network, those who land a job are fucking ruthless and they don't just put their foot in the door, they fucking break the door down with a fucking truck. You have to shift your mentality.

Either that or finding a job like a trade or going to healthcare. My friend convinced himself he was too dumb to code and he went for nursing and he says he is legit suicidal as a nurse. Doctors don't respect him, girls try their hardest to walk all over him and he doesn't allow it so they shun and outcast him. The nursing environment is fucking cancer, everyone, I mean EVERYONE treats you like shit. You basically have to become insanely callous to go through all the shit (literally and figuratively). It pays a lot, but it doesn't pay nearly enough. It's a fucking terrible job, but people will do it because I guess it at least beats working at Target for the rest of your life for peanuts.

It's sad to think how desperate people have become in the US. Just securing an okay job is near impossible now. Coding is exceptionally hard, but you don't have to be a great coder or even a good coder to land a job. My uncle who is in his 40s landed his first job in FAGMAN as a back-end engineer, makes 140k/year. He can't even do basic algebra and has a bachelors in business, but he's likable.

Search for a job like your life literally depended on it.
