115 is the cut-off point for whether people can do literally any profession, including what is associated with the genius and the gifted.
Bigger IQ only means quicker and more lateral thinking basically, which is useful is any area, but not necessary if extraordinary amounts of creativity and forethought is needed.
Scientists, for example, don't really need to be that bright, since the scientific method is a way to grind knowledge into existence, just need people smart enough to apply it, i.e. at least 115.

Another note, 85IQ is the cut-off point for the military, as in they will refuse you.
