Supply lines were already being diversified. China was preparing for factories moving out of the country. They are letting it happen. It's a part of their 'Made in China' initiative where they seek to transition into a consumer economy (like Japan) by 2025. Basically Chinese companies have grown so large at this point that they can compete on a global scale. So Chinese workers don't need to slave for Western companies anymore. If American factories leave, Chinese workers will just move from working in iPhone factories to Huawei ones.
