Listen... My dad's house is paid off and he spends like $400/month on property/school tax. It's 2000sqft on half an acre in a nice suburban neighborhood. He will die there happy and free. My mom has rented ever since they got divorced 25 years ago, and had to move to income based subsidized housing last year. I once had a serving job and was hiring in April. I told the hiring manager I wouldn't work the 4th of July and they agreed I wouldnt be scheduled for it. The time came and I was scheduled. I told them I wouldnt be showing up. They fired me.
