There is firo (zcoin), but it has its own problems. Firo's cryptography is better, but their implementation is lacking and buggy, they have almost zero usage, they just aren't battle-tested like monero (zerocoin-based cryptocurrencies are bitcoin forks, they usually don't have that much thought put into them beyond proof-of-concept), they will mostly be made irrelevant by monero's planned seraphis upgrade, and they recently introduced PoS because they were getting 51%'d by miners.

Monero is the de-facto privacy coin. It is the only one actually used on the DN, it is the only one that gets properly audited, it is the only one that has a sufficiently large anonset, it is the only one with decentralized mining, and it is the only one with community-driven development (donation driven, not taking a percentage from miners).

Most other privacy altcoins are shitcoins. Stay far away from the likes of ARRR, GRIN, DERO, etc. and shitforks like XMC. As much as people shit on zcash here, there are are many worse privacy coins, and there's a reason why zcash is at least in second place: you get some points for showing up and not being a complete scam.

Really, it's monero in first place, then firo at a very distant second, then zcash at an even more distant third, and then a monsoon of scams behind them.
