Yeah, but they still can be very rewarding means of speculation. Did you know that bottled wine has generated returns that rival the stock market over the decades? I think they've outperformed fine art as well.

I'm a fan of diversifying into different asset classes (limits reward but limits risk) and collectibles are likely something you might want to consider if you ever have serious wealth.

But probably not Yu-Gi-Oh cards... unless that's something you're passionate about.
