According to Lee Freeman-Shor's research, if you're picking individual stocks and one of them is down a lot, your portfolio will tend to perform better if you either (1) sell that stock and move on or (2) buy more of it. Holding and hoping for recovery did badly on average.
SOXL is a single-industry ETF, not an individual stock. But you might want to treat it the same way.
