I hate it when sellers do this. It waste your time, but more important it's an avoidable waste of resources. Overpackaging in a lot of industries is a real plague. Funny how politicians and big corpos only focus on le invisible carbon threat when they could have a REAL impact on stuff like this.

For example here, since over a decade now, throwaway plastic bags are illegal in malls and supermarkets. Each time you wanna do your groceries, you have to come with your own carrier bags (who are large, very resistant plastic bags sold for 1€ usually).
At first it was a mess and i was seething at this law, but after few years it was clear it was a great improvement for everybody.
It saved billions of plastic bags from littering our forests, beaches, streets, etc.. like it used to. It teached people to be more savvy and plan ahead for little things. It allowed supermarkets a superfluous spending.
This is how you really have an impact on the environment without stepping too hard on personal liberties. And it costed the government nothing to vote this law. It was back when the environment concerns still were genuine, not simply a huge scam for companies to gorge themselves on public money, and for politicians to have new tools to step on snek, invent taxes out of the blue + guarantee big corpo monopolies via regulations.
