The only way for the system to collapse is for people to stop using it. The best way to do that is to destroy the trust in the system and use alternatives. If governments ever get desperate and pass a bill to confiscate people's commodities, then the best course of action is to just outright barter. We have the technology to do this efficiently now, outside of centralized communication. The dreamers think the collapse will be sudden, when in reality the systems will be working parallel with one another until one beats the other. It's a game of chicken which one people will put their faith into.
