i get that you live there and are a lonely zoomer who wants to have someone on the internet tell them that they're not wasting their life in flat farm country in the middle of nowhere, but the ottawa area sucks. good friend of mine grew up in peru and got out of that shit hole. you're over an hour from anything (davenport, joliet, peoria/bloomington, rockford), so your job prospects are limited to the metro area of 140k. there is no town over 10k there, so you don't have amenities like colleges, minor league sports, concert halls, or even ice skating rinks. its just the same boring poorfag shit - bars, movie theaters and bowling alleys. there's no mountains to climb, no forests to hike, no beaches to walk, lakes to swim in, just a river. spring valley doesn't have money (44k average income) or smart people (28% college degree), the high school is 69% white, 2 stars, and has the majority of the students getting free lunch, and they're not an anomaly for the area.
