Burry seemed to think asset markets would collapse much more which they literally can't afford, in terms of tax revenue. In the end, austerity is not actually viable, and printing to fund tax shortfalls directly is too obviously currency debasement, so they will prefer to save assets with the printed cash instead to try to hide what they're really doing. Also to resume the Cantillon effect lining the pockets of the asset owning classes who run this shit pile which is a nice little side benefit.
