Pretty much, yeah. It's not going to give you a wedding ending with an epilogue or anything but it will give you a nice feeling of seeing all the characters feeling like all the important characters mature up. Throwbacks to the start of the series. It's pretty obvious, but Ataru really does love Lum and given the chance would pick her over any harem.

Also I recommend the 2nd movie at the very least. Not for closures sale, but it's a fucking amazing movie in its own right that almost works as a standalone. It's from the guy who did the Angel's Egg and Ghost in The Shell movies, and you can definitely feel his touch on it in good way. He directs a few anime only episodes too that are fucking ra - particularly the surprisingly deep one with Ataru's mom waking from endless existential crisis dream worlds and being haunted by some weird apparition that's implied to be her younger self chasing after her because she feels unfulfilled by her life (since her only role is housewife,/mom, she literally doesn't even have a given name by the author).

God I love Urusei Yatsuda.
