I'm on-track to hit the $1.5M Net Worth mark by ~July/Aug of this year. Pretty crazy, as I was just at ~$1M just 1 year ago. It's not really "real" though because most of the gains are unrealized from my house appreciating in value, and the tech stock market going bonkers (I haven't sold anything yet). And I'm not gonna sell my house any time soon so it's all kinda fake. Still wild that I could theoretically retire soon if things kept this way for the next 5 years (my minimum target is $2.5M). Realistically I see a stock market correction coming though so my horizon will probably be more like 10-15 years.

Yes. The system is meant to keep you extracting your labor for as long as possible. You're not a person to the system, you're a statistic. The thing is you really don't need that much money to actually never work again, see picrel
Essentially what you should do is to try to exit the rat race as quick as possible. Don't get caught up in status, keeping up with the Joneses, etc. just try to buy back your freedom as quickly as possible. Ignore social standards and shaming (which aren't meant for your benefit or well-being but you being molded into the best slave possible).
