wagie here. this is just a friendly reminder to fresh grads starting out in their careers - it doesn't matter how good you are, or how hard you try. what matters is that number on your resume next to YEARS EXPERIENCE.

you see, I spent roughly $2000 and countless hours studying to obtain a long list of certifications relevant to my field. when a recruiter calls me, they tell me how impressed they are with my certs, then comes the kicker - "Ah jeeze anon, but I noticed you only had 2 years experience?" and I get low balled on salary. I studied my ass off to get ahead and it didn't matter. meanwhile, some lazy dumb faggot at my job with 5 years experience and no certs went off to a far better company than me for higher pay and higher bonuses.

what this tells me is that it doesn't matter if it's 5 years, 10 years, 20 years - you will never reach X position regardless of how good or how hard you study, only TIME matters.

so basically what I'm trying to tell you fresh college grads, is that it doesn't matter. do the minimum amount of work that you can to scrape by and just bide your time. any ambition you have in the workplace, set it aside. we live in a post-meritocratic society.

I honestly don't know how anyone can stomach working more than a year at a time. How the hell do people make it 20-50+ years working? I would literally kill myself, that is absolute fucking misery.

You have to be a subhuman animal to stomach such a brutal existence that robs you of your youth and your time. It's like when you hitch a wagon to a horse - the horse doesn't contemplate its existence, it's too stupid for that. That's basically a wagie in essence.

I'm not trying to banter or make wagies mad, I'm a former wagie myself, I genuinely just don't understand it. Then again, I am descended from aristocracy, maybe it's in my blood to not be a slave.
