There's your problem.
Do you know why we sleep? It is to fix the exact problems your described. Sleep repairs the brain and body, and if you don't get enough, you will have all sorts of health problems, and brain fog, memory loss, accidents etc.
As you age it is harder and harder to get the amount of sleep your body still needs and craves for repair time.
Get at least 8 hours of quality sleep per night, don't try to short change it.
