My local LCS closed down earlier this year. I visited two pawn shops over the weekend that both advertise buying/selling gold and silver yet have none to be sold. Plenty of power tools from crack heads and other useless junk.

I gave in and ordered some tubes of maples from monument. Pic related was from my former LCS, chunky 2ozt merc.

Idk how big your stack is but after a while you just kind of stop buying capsules. I still buy tubes for stacking convince but for the amount of money you would spend on plastic capsules could be spend on more silver. Also unless you sell to a private party or on ebay, no lcs will pay you more for silver in a capsule compared to a tarnished coin.

GSR is 68 right now. Gold to silver density ratio is 1.841. 1.841 times 68 is 125.24. So it takes 125.24 times more space to stack the same amount of value in silver as it does in gold. This is likely to change with silver increasing in value relative to gold, so you can stack more silver right now with it being worth more later. The increased space silver takes up also means your stack is more divisible. You can pay for smaller things with more material than gold. You would have to shave off a bit of gold to pay for something that you might be able to pay for using a mercury dime instead
