Kek, take a peek at this email I got when shorting during a squeeze last year. GME baggies imagine that they can take all the shares and force hedgies to buy for $1MM each, but the system just isn't strict in any way apparently. You can hold fake shares for 2 days, then roll and do 2 days more and so on.

If the squeeze ever threatens a Real Person (aka not retail), they can always just stop trading and/or undo transactions. See what happened with nickel last month, or RDBX, etc
