It has great materials at reasonable price (for the S35VN steel and titanium handles you're getting, at least), in addition to looking nice, and it's also designed to be sturdy as shit while still functioning well in EDC tasks

I don't own any ESEE knives at the moment, but I have considered buying an Izula 2 for the sake of having a quality fixed blade around
I use diamond stones to sharpen my knives, personally
They do take a lot of material off, but I like that don't need to be flattened or soaked in water beforehand, and it's also a lot easier to sharpen really hard powder metallurgy steels like S35VN on diamond stones

The knife I generally have on me most days is a Kizer Rogue
I love this thing, it's comfortable, has a nice compact size and practical blade shape, and top tier materials (Titanium framelock with S35VN steel)
The blade stock is sturdy enough for it to be able to handle hard work if necessary, but it's also thin enough behind the edge to be practical in light use tasks
