Once you have that under control, do everything you can to cut your current expenses as much as you can (moving in with parents, getting bargain brands instead of name brands, shopping around for lower phone bill, etc.).

Now you earn more and are able to stretch out every bit to maximize spending power. So you can now look into running a side hustle to build up the money you need to get back into school.
Consider trying retail arbitrage or private labeling and going the Amazon FBA route like >>1302784 has already said.
Or try some other side-business idea like providing a local service, coding a website, creating a new product, etc. to help you get ahead.

How "difficult" is it to start your own business?

If it's a service based business is it simply buying whatever equipment you need to get the job done and then getting your name out there?

You wouldn't even need to register or pay taxes until you you hit a certain threshold right?

More specifically, I'm considering mobile detailing for cars in the rich part of town or a carpet cleaning business.

Since it's mostly cash based, couldn't I just skip paying Uncle Sam?

I live in a very hot, dry, dusty state so I've had an idea about starting up a carpet cleaning business.

How much initial money you'd need to invest to get it up and running depends on if you want a truck-mounted unit or portable units.

As for competition in my area, there's plenty of small mom-pop companies and there's a few big name companies.

If I can cut my cost, I can complete with the big boys to get exposure for my company.

As for the mom and pop companies, I would use quality to blow them away. Mostly by specializing in completely removing pet stains/odors.

I have several connections to police departs so I can be shilled to the officers and their families.

In addition, I'd be focusing on apartment/condo complexes using wholesale prices.

I'd also like to offer carpet repair or replacement down the road.

What do you guys think?
