similar reason for most religious dietary restrictions (jewdaism has most of the same restrictions as islam, oddly enough)

another example is how in dense places like in hinduism a cow's milk (yogurt, cheese, ectera) can feed a family of 10 easily for year (and even be able to breed and make more cows!), even decades if it is treated well enough, while eating beef from a cow will not last long

chickens breed fast and dont share many foodborne illnesses with humans, so basically every religion allows for eating as much chickens as you want all day every day (besides various holy fasting days)
