They had earlier kanji ricerune hallmarks but most of what I see are probably post-WW2 items marked in a simple but distinctive way, these are likely from the 1950s. The Japanese made .925 sterling but it seems that their standard in the postwar period was .950 which any frog oughta appreciate, the pieces are marked "Silver 950" like pic or "Sterling 950". I assume it's relatively common silver here because of all the soldiers stationed in Japan after the war but you probably have some in France too.
