It's happening if you look around. How many gambling sites are there now? Try to enumerate them and it's a surprising amount if you look everywhere. And it's definitely more than just 1-2 years ago. The same goes for grey-market activities. Monero is slowly catching on other miscellaneous markets where private, digital cash works better than paypal/BTC. And as restrictions, KYC, and deplatforming get worse with online payment providers, more will be inclined to use the next best option: Monero. You see this with the recent push from sensible BTC "maxis" towards XMR. That is no accident, a good currency creates its own uses.

I think you are ignorant of that. Holding is a natural prerequisite to spending. In fact, every unit of a currency (including Monero) is being held by someone at all times. That is how medium of exchanges work. People want to get from commodity/service A to commodity/service B without a direct barter, thus they use a common medium for the exchange. This is not to imply that a "HODL forever" mentality is healthy, it is the opposite. But savings (which is to refrain from spending from a time to increase purchasing power later) do play an important part in the study of economics.
Furthermore, dismissing price when manipulated is just dishonest. If something is manipulated you can still study the price from the underlying actual supply and demand and even draw more complex conclusions than otherwise. We do this all the time as there are barely any markets for which there is no government intervention causing price distortion. Encouraging or disparaging industry, price distortions are everywhere in the economy.
Yet that does not impede our ability to analyze properly. It might impede business calculation resulting in misallocated resources, but the overall discussion can go on.

The loudest voices naturally drown out more reasonable ones. Just look at /pol/, and the IQ ain't too high.

Newfag here, Was the prominent support of monero here as strong as it was prior to the golden bull run of 2021? I’m a ROSE CHUD and an AVAX ROACH, but I can’t lie, monero’s support and meme potential here seems to be the closest thing resembling the next LINK.
