so, assuming i want to get some gold as a way to counteract inflation, what would be the most safe investment?

one of you suggested coins instead of bullion but i wouldn't mind hearing more opinions

also, how good of a time is it to buy gold?
i'm assuming with the incoming inflation spike it's a good time, hence why i popped my head in here
