he was there when the "old boys" were still rocker boxing material from the cliffs at a spot called "The Cadwallider" which Bill mentions. Now these miners were not going after old placer gold, they were after the mill grinding waste that was pumped into Cadwallider Creek from the Pioneer and Bralorne mills. The mills sometimes became overwhelmed with metallic gold that they would inadvertently loose hundreds of ounces a day in the tailings. These poor man miners would work the bedrock down stream from the mills after the spring freshet and fall as the water went down revealing pockets of quartz white sand and gold. A good crew could pull 10-20 ounces from a pocket and that was fantastic money in the depression. Nick thinks that there are quite a few of these pockets left around the river too.

have you looked into Talisker Resources? Their Bralorne property was one of the worlds richest gold mines per tonne for 15 years. The richest gold ore in north America recorded came from the Pioneer Mine at Bralorne, over 2900 ounces per tonne gold.
