No, for the test net you get rewarded in Skycoins, because there's not enough traffic on the network yet to be rewarded in Coin Hours. Once on main net there will be sufficient users requiring bandwidth/processing/storage that nodes will be able to collect Coin Hours for providing those services.

You need at least 1250 SKY to make it by end of this year, but just 100 SKY will be enough to make it in 2019/2020. So it really depends how patient you are. Best to start accumulating early so you can build up the Coin Hours anyway.
